"Our chief aim is to glorify the God of our salvation in the person of Jesus Christ and to serve Him with excellence as we serve those whom He loves."
We want to welcome you to the sanctuary at Full Gospel Assembly, the church in River City that’s reaching out to you! We are a non-denominational New Testament church that fully accepts the Apostolic doctrine. We know that there is but one Lord, one faith, and one baptism.
The Word instructs that whatsoever you do—in word or deed—do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. And since there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved, we baptize in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
We're thankful for the Pentecostal experience being real—that the Holy Ghost comes and speaks with tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. The Word again declares that you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.
In 1925, a group of worshippers in Huntington, inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, founded the Full Gospel Mission. Evangelist Cora Duckworth, known as "Mother Duckworth," was the founding pastor. Over the years, leaders like Elder Walter Nichols, Elder M. L. Sanders, and Elder C. U. Moore played key roles. The church grew, established affiliations, and built a new sanctuary in 1962. Elder Moore continued as pastor, fostering growth, creating new ministries, and relocating the church in 2000. Today, as the Full Gospel Assembly, they remain dedicated to their mission.
One Lord; One Faith; and One Baptism.
Pastor Samuel R. Moore, who took over leadership in 1983, played a pivotal role in the Full Gospel Assembly's continued growth and development. Under his guidance, both membership and church attendance steadily increased, and various church auxiliaries were restructured. To enhance the church's community presence, the name was changed to "Full Gospel Assembly." Pastor Moore initiated several new ministries, including "Kids of the Kingdom" for children's development, "Heads Up" support group for African-American males, a Married Couples Ministry, Tape Ministry, Word Alive Sunday, and more. In December 2000, the congregation moved to its current location at 2101-2111 10th Avenue. With the dedication of those whom the Lord has placed in our congregation, we see no limit to what we can accomplish in the time we have left to serve.
Stay tuned for exciting upcoming events that will bring our community closer together. From worship services to social gatherings, there's always something special happening at Full Gospel Assembly.
